Teenage is the time when one is learning to mix with the world and is extremely sensitive about their image. No doubt it is often quite embarrassing for some teens when they have to go for classes or meet friends with a pimple on the face.
Don’t Touch The Pimple
Not touching your face with your hands is one of the most important criteria to prevent as well as get rid of acne. Our hands harbor a large amount of bacteria and dirt due to constant contact with substances which harbor these things and hence must be kept away from the face and especially pimples as the bacteria may aggravate the situation.
However you must also make sure that you clean your hands quite often with good soap and use a hand sanitizer when you are out of home in case you touch your face with your hands. Also cleaning your hands will prevent bacteria and other foreign objects from entering your body and cause various ailments.
Antibiotics
You can visit any dermatologist and get yourselves a prescription for oral antibiotics. These antibiotics kill the bacteria and hence can help you in curing as wells as preventing further acne breakout in near future. Generally Tetracycline is prescribed for acne. However do not indulge in self medication and get your prescription from a registered practitioner only.
Avoid Squeezing Pimples
Avoid squeezing pimples especially with your hands as it will irritate the skin as you will force the bacteria deep down the skin and hence aggravate the situation. Also squeezing pimples can lead to acne scars which are harder to cure as compared to acne. Your body is capable of curing small and medium sized pimples. Just let your body do the healing until and unless the acne is not too large in which case you need to consult a dermatologist. However it is completely safe to use other methods to cure the acne in the meanwhile.
Benzoyl Peroxide
You can use Benzoyl Peroxide based lotions and cleansers for treating acne. They are easily available over the counter and are quite safe. Benzoyl Peroxide destroys the P. acnes bacteria which is the main cause of acne and also helps in drying up the acne.
Use Non Comedogenic Products
Using make up and other products on your face while you are having acne problems is not suggested. You can still use make up and other products; but first check if the product is non comedogenic as they do not clog the pores of your skin (which could cause acne). Also remember to remove the make up before sleeping and while performing physical exercises.
Drink More Water
Water is the ultimate cleanser and removes unwanted substance from your body. Drink a minimum of 1.5 liters of water every day.
Exercise And Get Sweating
Mild exercise capable enough of producing sweat can be very beneficial for your body. Sweating can remove the dirt and oil trapped in your skin thereby reducing the occurrence of acne. Also it unclogs the blocked pores and hence helps in curing acne. Make sure to clean the sweat and take a shower afterwards.
